On 14 February 2017, a delegation of German Fuehrungsakademie der Bundeswehr (German Staff College of the Joint Armed Forces) headed by Brigadier General Thomas Hambach paid an official visit to NATO’s Joint Warfare Centre (JWC) in Stavanger, Norway.
Based in Hamburg, the Fuehrungsakademie der Bundeswehr is known as the premier training and education facility of the top echelon of the German Armed Forces. The General Staff Course here has included a visit to the Joint Warfare Centre within its curriculum since 2007.
Upon their arrival, Brigadier General Hambach and twelve other delegation members were welcomed by the U.S. Navy Rear Admiral Brad Skillman, JWC’s Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff, who briefed them on JWC’s mission, organization and current activities. The delegation then received a comprehensive briefing on security in the “High North” by Royal Norwegian Navy Commodore Hans Helseth, Special Advisor to the Commander, as well as overview briefings on NATO’s future training scenario settings and JWC's support to NATO's Transformational Activities (TACTs) in TRIDENT Series of Exercises, such as Space Support to Operations during TRIDENT JUNCTURE 16.
The official visit programme at the Joint Warfare Centre concluded with briefings on the Centre's state-of-the-art CAX and media simulation capabilities, including a visit to JWC's live broadcast studio and a guided tour of the two Combined Joint Operations Centres (CJOCs) here.
