Major General Timothy J Bevis CBE, the Director of Operations and Planning Division of NATO's International Military Staff (IMS) visited the Joint Warfare Centre (JWC) on 25 August 2017.
Polish Army Major General Andrzej Reudowicz, Commander JWC, welcomed UK Royal Marines Major General Bevis Friday at JWC in Jatta to discuss in detail JWC-led command post exercises that contribute significantly to the training and combat readiness of NATO forces.
During the visit, Major General Bevis received detailed briefings on a range of key topics on the Centre’s agenda as well as a tour of the JWC facilities, which included an update by British Army Colonel Neil Wright, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Centre’s Exercise, Training and Innovation Directorate, on JWC’s unique exercise design and delivery processes as NATO’s premier training and warfare establishment.
Other briefing topics covered the development of exercise Main Events List/Main Incidents List (MEL/MIL) script, Opposing Forces (OPFOR) capabilities and the White/Grey Cell organization within the Exercise Control (EXCON) as well as Media Simulation and Computer Assisted Exercise (CAX) tools, including the brand new Joint Theater Level Simulation-Global Operations (JTLS-GO) tool, which will be used for the first time during exercise TRIDENT JAVELIN 2017, one of the top exercises for NATO this year.
Also discussed was JWC’s leading role in the creation and development of NATO’s current and future synthetic exercise scenarios, both Article 5 and non-Article 5.
Following the briefing at the JWC’s live broadcast studio, the official visit concluded with a guided tour of the Bunker led by Colonel Jan Østbø, JWC’s Director of Management.
