2012 JWC Information Day and Welcome BBQ

Edited 2012 welcomeBBQJWC’s annual Information Day and Welcome BBQ was held at Jåttå on Saturday, August 11, 2012. The aim of the day is threefold: to allow us to meet newcomers to our Community, to "catch up" with each other after the summer leave period, and to allow us the chance to obtain information on the numerous activities and services available to us in the local area.

This year 83 different companies, organizations, groups and associations from the Rogaland area came to JWC to display what they had to offer and how our families could take advantage of the great opportunities that abound in the region. This information was extremely useful and helpful to, both, the approximately 50 new families who have arrived at JWC this past year as well as to who have been here longer.

A wide and varied range of activities and information stands were available from the Rygene Vikings Group conducting a re-enactment of a Viking battle, to horses from a local stable that our Community could meet and kids ride, to information from NAF and the opportunity to test drive a Nissan Leaf electric vehicle, to sample Eplemost and grilled sausages and displays from the Rogaland Krigshistoriske Museum and Norwegian military home guard among others. All of our guests provided a wealth of information to our Community about the myriad of possibilities, options and events that we can become part of. We would like to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to our exhibitors for taking their tome to join us.2012 welcomeBBQ groups

With over 800 burgers and 500 hotdogs served to our families and our invited exhibitors, well over 500 people participated during the day, getting to know each other a bit better and being exposed to the welcoming and fantastic region in which we live.
