JWC's "2015 Welcome BBQ and Information Day" was held at Jåttå on Saturday, August 15, 2015. The aim of this annual event is threefold: 1) to allow us to meet newcomers to our community; 2) to allow us to "catch up" with each other after the summer leave period; and 3) to allow us the chance to obtain information on the numerous activities and services available to us in the local area.

This year 97 different companies, organizations, groups and associations from the Rogaland area came to JWC to display what they had to offer and how our families could take advantage of the great opportunities that abound in the region.

This information was extremely useful and helpful to, both, the approximately 45 new families who have arrived at JWC this past year as well as to who have been here longer.

A wide and varied range of activities and information stands were available from the Rygene Vikings Group conducting a re-enactment of a Viking battle, to horses from Vikinghest that our community could meet and kids ride, to face painting and air brush tattoos by SLIK, to information from the International Network of Norway and People Who Connect, and the opportunity to sample chocolate from the Egersund Chokoladefabrik. Displays were provided by our Norwegian military security force, the Stavanger Oilers Supporter's Club (the Roughnecks), the Norwegian Arms and Armor Society, the Rock Tax, Krav Maga Stavanger, the Rogaland Krigshistoriske museum, Kampsportsinstitutett, and the Stavanger International Rotary Club, among others. All of our guests provided a wealth of information to our Community about the myriad of possibilities, options and events that we can become part of. We would like to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to our exhibitors for taking their time to join us.

With over 1,000 burgers and 600 hotdogs served to our families and our invited exhibitors, well over 600 people participated during the day, getting to know each other a bit better and being exposed to the welcoming and fantastic region in which we live.
