The German Ambassador to the Kingdom of Norway, H.E. Alfred Grannas, accompanied by the German Defence Attaché, Navy Cdr Per Weiler, visited NATO Joint Warfare Centre (JWC) on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2020.

Ambassador Grannas was welcomed to the Centre by Rear Admiral Jan C. Kaack, Commander JWC.

Following an office call with Rear Admiral Kaack and the JWC mission brief from Colonel Alfred Goertz, Head of JWC’s Exercise Planning Division and the Acting German Senior National Representative, Ambassador Grannas and Cdr Weiler were given a guided tour of the Centre’s state-of-the-art training facility, where they met with the personnel assigned to the JWC.

The tour included briefings on JWC’s media simulation capabilities, Computer Assisted Exercise (CAX) support, Opposing Forces (OPFOR) and the Grey Cell, as well as a presentation on exercise planning activities focusing on the upcoming NATO Exercise TRIDENT JUPITER 2019-2 (TRJU19-2), which will be directed by Rear Admiral Kaack in early spring.

Established on 23 October 2003, the Joint Warfare Centre in Stavanger, Norway, is at the heart of NATO’s full spectrum joint operational-level warfare training and certification.
