Inter-Allied Confederation of Reserve Officers (CIOR) will hold a one-day symposium in Stavanger, Norway, on 11 August 2010, with the participation of reservists, officers, politicians, government officials and NGO representatives from 30 NATO and Partnership for Peace (PfP) countries. The theme of the CIOR Stavanger 2010 Symposium is "NATO's Comprehensive Approach - The Role of Reservists".

"The CIOR Stavanger 2010 Symposium aims to facilitate dynamic exchange of knowledge, ideas and perspectives about NATO's Comprehensive Approach, an emerging, evolving and sometimes controversial doctrine that will shape the future joint operations in the new era of asymmetric warfare. The symposium will place special emphasis on the current and future roles that Reservists might play within this doctrine, given the civilian-military aspect of Comprehensive Approach," said Lieutenant Colonel Willem Verheijen, Royal Netherlands Army, International CIOR President 2008-2010.

CIOR is a NATO-affiliated, non-political and non-profit umbrella organization of member Nations' national Reserve Officers' Associations. Commonly referred to by its French acronym, CIOR represents the interests of over 1.3 million Reservists across 36 Nations, making it the world's largest military Reserve Officer organization.

The CIOR Symposium 2010 is held as part of the "CIOR Summer Congress 2010" in Stavanger. Registration for CIOR Stavanger 2010 has already started at the CIOR Summer Congress Website" href="">
