Royal Navy Rear Admiral Guy Robinson OBE, the Deputy Commander (DCOM) of Naval Striking and Support Forces (STRIKFORNATO) visited NATO’s Joint Warfare Centre (JWC) on Thursday, 18 January 2018. He was received by U.S. Navy Rear Admiral Brad Skillman, JWC's Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff.

The visit programme included an update on JWC’s current missions, key outputs, and responsibilities as NATO’s premier operational-level training provider. Highlighted during Rear Admiral Robinson’s visit was the complex exercise planning, preparation and execution processes at the joint operational level of warfare, which are continuously reviewed to meet NATO’s training priorities and requirements. Rear Admiral Robinson also received briefings on topics such as scenario development and management, computer assisted exercises (CAX) and media simulation from a diverse array of subject matter experts.

In the afternoon, Rear Admiral Robinson had the opportunity to meet with Exercise TRIDENT JAGUAR 2018 (TRJR18) participants and the two Operational Liaison and Reconnaissance Teams (OLRTs) from Multinational Joint Headquarters Ulm and NATO Rapid Deployable Corps – Greece. Here, he was briefed on JWC’s White/Grey Cell organization, which comprises role-players from political, civilian and military organizations. The visit in Stavanger also included a guided tour of the Bunker, a massive office space located inside Mount Jatta.
