STAVANGER, Norway – German Air Force Senior Master Sergeant Michael, assigned to the NATO Joint Warfare Centre’s (JWC) Human Resources Management Branch, received the JWC Military Member of the Year (MMOY) 2022 Award from Major General Piotr Malinowski, Commander JWC, and Command Senior Enlisted Leader (CSEL), Senior Chief Warrant Officer Andrzej Woltmann, during a ceremony here on March 30, 2023.
Major General Malinowski presented Senior Master Sergeant Michael with the Letter of Commendation, a MMOY plaque and a Commander's Coin. The Commander thanked Senior Master Sergeant Michael for his superior performance and professional excellence.
The Centre’s MMOY programme aims to recognize the professional excellence of the non-commissioned officers (NCOs) serving at the JWC. The recipients of the MMOY award are nominated for their superior performance in support of the JWC’s unique mission, which provides NATO's training focal point for full spectrum joint operational- and strategic-level warfare.
“This is the first time in my military career that I have received such an award," Michael said. "I was overwhelmed when I learned that my Branch Head had nominated me for Military Member of the Year. I know we have many outstanding non-commissioned officers at the JWC, and so to be recognized at this level by my peers is a great honour. It means a lot to me to represent my nation and service within NATO.”
He added: “I would like to thank my branch, but also the entire JWC family, who have supported me so much since my arrival in January 2021. Without my colleagues and superiors here, I would not have made such strides in my personal development in the past two years, or earned this recognition. I look forward to continuing the journey together with the JWC One Team and making NATO better every day.”
