NATO’s Joint Warfare Centre (JWC) is celebrating its 15th anniversary throughout 2018 with key anniversary events, including a special Summer Family Day and the main anniversary ceremony on 23 October.
“We are training hard and each of our outputs is a result of huge amounts of dedicated work and preparation paired with unfailing strength and commitment. I would like to first and foremost thank our employees; whose fair and honest teamwork and exceptional performance make a tremendous impact on a daily basis,” said Commander JWC, Polish Army Major General Andrzej Reudowicz. “This anniversary is a unique opportunity to reflect on the accomplishments of the past 15 years.”
The JWC’s anniversary year opened with the International Day on Sunday, 28 January. “This is our annual get together where the Nations present their traditional food and beverages,” said German Navy CDR Malte Reichel, JWC’s Acting Head Community Support Branch. “With all JWC’s 15 Nations, it is a great event to mark the anniversary.”
JWC is the premier operational level training organization of NATO, based in Norway
The Joint Warfare Centre provides NATO’s training focal point for full spectrum joint operational level warfare.
With its training facility at Jåttå, operational since 2012, hosting one of NATO’s most advanced and high-performing Information Technology (IT) platforms and providing a capacity to train up to 1,200 people, the JWC is among the world’s most state-of-the-art training centres, well positioned to meet NATO’s growing requirements across the entire spectrum of modern operational art.
The JWC’s main ambition is invariably to improve interoperability, readiness and responsiveness among Allied and Partner Nations. At JWC, NATO forces are able to conduct focused, realistic and demanding training, integrating all aspects of operational level planning and execution, using turn-key facilities and leading edge Media Simulation and Computer-Assisted Exercise (CAX) capabilities.
2018 marks the Joint Warfare Centre’s 15th anniversary since it was activated on 23 October 2003 in Jåttå, Stavanger, Norway.
