During an All Hands Call at Joint Warfare Centre (JWC) on Wednesday 26th March, the Commander JWC Major General Erhard Buehler, DEU A, proudly presented three JWC staff members with awards.

Lieutenant Colonel Tanneguy P. de Courcy, Joint Training Division, was awarded the NATO ISAF Non Article 5 Medal. During four separate visits to Afghanistan totalling 60 days, he was engaged with essential fact-finding and information collecting so that JWC was able to provide high quality ISAF Training.

Chief Petty Officer Craig Pilley, Joint Training Division, was awarded the NATO Non Article 5 Medal “Unified Protector”. The medal was awarded in recognition of HMS CUMBERLAND’s contribution to operations in Libya and in particular three non-combatant evacuations of over 450 internationals from Benghazi, Libya, in 2011 for which Chief Pilley also earned a three star commendation from the Chief of Joint Operations.

Chief Petty Officer John Bunce, NATO Communications and Information Agency Squadron Stavanger (NCST), was recognized as the JWC Military Member of the Year 2013.

The award is presented to a Non-Commissioned Officer selected through a competition between NCO candidates at JWC. According to the citation, “Chief Petty Officer John Bunce has worked tirelessly to provide professional support to CIS requirements in 2013 and as the Head of the Event Team Build for the ISAF Training Event 13/02 he was tasked with leading a team of multi-national NATO personnel to carry out the deployment of CIS equipment for over 800 Training Audience and Exercise Control. His overall dedication has been proven on many occasions and this award recognizes his outstanding contribution to NCIA and JWC as whole.”
