On 5 September 2011, Major General Jean Berger, French Army, Commander Joint Warfare Centre had the great honour and privilege to be received in audience by His Majesty King Harald V at the Royal Palace in Oslo.

After the visit, the General said: “I had the opportunity of making a few comments on the strong cooperation and genuine friendship between NATO and Norway in general and the City of Stavanger and the JWC community in particular. I told His Majesty that we remain committed to our City and our gracious Norwegian hosts, as well as to further strengthening the existing cooperation and partnership between Stavanger and the JWC. I stressed the importance of the many cultural heritages of the 21 Nations represented at the JWC, as well as how much JWC staff appreciate living in the fantastic environment of Rogaland. I also conveyed my deepest sympathies for all those who suffer due to the Oslo and Utøya violence, adding that all members of the JWC and their families stand together with our Norwegian hosts in the aftermath of this unfathomable tragedy.”

His Majesty King Harald V of Norway in August 2006 visited Norwegian National Joint Headquarters in Stavanger together with the President of the Republic of Bulgaria Georgi Parvanov where they received a briefing by Air Marshal Peter Walker, the then Director Joint Warfare Centre.
