NATO´s Infrastructure Committee has approved the funding for the Jåttå Permanent Office and Training Facility for the Joint Warfare Centre on 25 April 2006. The aim of this project is to build a facility using cutting edge technology to match the wide variety of requirements of staff coming from NATO´s operational level headquarters and JWC alike.
The site plan will provide the NATO Alliance with a facility that can accomodate 1072 people simultaneously. It will house a 600-seat auditorium, several conference rooms, training facilities, office space and administrative areas.
Completion of the new building is expected by the fourth quarter of 2008.
The JWC started to develop the Capability Package (CP) for this project early 2004 under the leadership of Allied Command Transformation (ACT). The CP defines JWC`s operational requirements and it is a combination of national (both military and civilian) and NATO funded infrastructure. NATO`s Senior Board had approved the CP on 6 December 2004.
The site plan and building design processes will be coordinated with the Norwegian Minister of Defence and their National Defence Estate Agency. Address for communication, time and place of bid opening will be provided in the near future.
