The Defence Attachés of ten NATO member countries accredited to Norway paid a familiarization visit to the Joint Warfare Centre (JWC) on Tuesday, 12 March 2019. The delegation was warmly welcomed by Polish Army Major General Andrzej Reudowicz, Commander JWC.

The visit provided a forum for dialogue between top JWC officials and the defence attachés representing the armed forces of ten NATO Nations including Belgium, Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Turkey and the United States.

Organized by the Norwegian Ministry of Defence, the aim of the visit was to provide the delegation with an overview of the JWC and to promote a better understanding of its important mission as NATO’s preeminent operational-level training organization and footprint in the North. As part of the visit, the defence attachés received a series of briefings on the Centre’s current activities and its comprehensive training environment, including exercise scenarios reflecting NATO's 360-degree aprroach to security, computer and media simulation, White/Grey Cell and the Opposing Forces (OPFOR) organization. The visit also included a working lunch hosted by Major General Reudowicz and a guided tour of the JWC’s state-of-the-art training facility.

Following the visit to the JWC, the official familiarization programme will continue with a site visit to Bergen Naval Base (Haakonsvern), the largest naval base in the Nordic countries.
