STAVANGER, Norway – From June 3 to 7, the Joint Warfare Centre (JWC) hosted the Main Events List / Main Incidents List (MEL/MIL) Incident Development Workshop for NATO Exercise STEADFAST DUEL 2024 (STDU24).

Over 200 civilian and military personnel across NATO, Allied nations and representatives from various institutions, and organizations, as well as external contractors gathered at the JWC to continue the planning and preparation for STEADFAST DUEL 2024, set to take place in the autumn.

Scheduled by SHAPE, conducted by Allied Joint Force Command Naples (JFC Naples), and directed by the JWC, STEADFAST DUEL 2024 is a major joint exercise (MJX) designed to exercise participating NATO Command and Force Structure Headquarters on aspects of defence of the Euro-Atlantic area at the operational and higher tactical levels.

JFC Naples and Allied Air Command (AIRCOM) will serve as the primary training audiences during STEADFAST DUEL 2024.

The workshop at the JWC commenced almost immediately following the conclusion of Exercise STEADFAST DETERRENCE 2024 here last week, which certified NATO Rapid Deployable Corps Italy (NRDC-ITA) as the first Allied Reaction Force (ARF) Headquarters.

During the workshop, STEADFAST DUEL 2024 exercise development teams from the JWC and across NATO created storylines to challenge different headquarters, ensuring their operational readiness.

“Whilst STEADFAST DETERRENCE 2024 exercised elements of NATO’s deterrence strategy, STEADFAST DUEL 2024 will exercise these Headquarters in the defence of the Alliance, employing all military capabilities, including cyberspace and space within a complex scenario,” said Maj Gen Roger Lane (Ret.), the senior Exercise Contol (EXCON) Advisor for both exercises.

Established in 2003 in Stavanger, Norway, the Joint Warfare Centre provides NATO's training focal point for full-spectrum joint operational- and strategic-level warfare.
