STAVANGER, Norway – NATO Joint Warfare Centre (JWC) concluded the first iteration of its two-part newcomers training on August 18, welcoming 33 new staff members and their families to the organization.
The aim of the newcomers training was to welcome new staff members to the JWC’s One Team, while introducing them to the Centre’s mission, unique capabilities, organizational structure, and culture.
In addition to the wide range of briefings, the first iteration of the newcomers training also included a presentation by the Community Services Section on relocation orientation for the spouses, as well as extracurricular activities such as the JWC Sports Day on August 17, and to cap it off, the Welcome BBQ, on August 19.
Addressing the JWC’s incoming staff on August 16, Major General Piotr Malinowski, Commander JWC, underlined the importance of the Centre’s “One Team” ethos, saying that the Centre’s sole aim was to deliver the best possible training to NATO, to further develop NATO forces’ warfighting capabilities. “Just as our motto says: Together, we make NATO better! The JWC must be always on the cutting edge of NATO training and warfare development,” the Commander said.
The JWC provides NATO’s training focal point for full spectrum joint operational- and strategic-level warfare. As part of its unique warfare development enterprise, the Centre also supports NATO’s evolving warfare development through analysis and doctrine development processes, integration of new concepts and doctrine, experimentation as well as collecting, analysing and sharing lessons learned.
The JWC will celebrate its 20th anniversary on October 23, 2023.
